The last mile: why it is the most delicate stretch of a delivery

It is the shortest leg, but the one with the most stops, waiting and surprises. And the one your customer remembers.

The last mile: why it is the most delicate stretch of a delivery

The last mile is the final leg of a delivery, from the warehouse or shop to the recipient’s door. It is the shortest stretch and also the most complicated:

  • Many stops in a small area with little room to park.
  • Recipients who are not at home when the parcel arrives.
  • Incomplete or hard-to-find addresses.

That is why it makes a difference to notify the customer before arriving, agree time slots and have a fallback when nobody is in: a neighbour, a pick-up point or a second attempt.

That is exactly the stretch we handle at La Milla Verde, with direct contact and a notice for every delivery.
